Community Heritage Resources recognized by the City of Vancouver
In September 1986, Vancouver City Council adopted the Vancouver Heritage Inventory, which was subsequently adopted as the Vancouver Heritage Register in December 1994. The Heritage Register is a listing of buildings and structures, streetscapes, landscape resources (parks and landscapes, trees, monuments, public works) and archaeological sites which have architectural or historical heritage value. The Heritage Register is a planning tool which provides a valuable record of Vancouver’s heritage. In addition, the City has adopted a number of regulations, policies and guidelines which affect buildings or sites listed on the Heritage Register.
